Ceph Emmanuel Christie was welcomed into the world on December 6, 2004, as the second of three children born to Marlon and Chari Christie. From a young age, Ceph possessed an unstoppable spirit filled with energy and a zest for life. His fervent passion for baseball was ignited at an early age and he began honing his skills with the Ground Breakers (G3) Baseball Academy Family, quickly establishing himself as a standout among his peers. With aspirations of playing professionally in Major League Baseball (MLB), Ceph has earned numerous awards and accolades in the sport, including the Most Valuable Player (G3), Silver Slugger, Lion Award, Humanitarian Award, and Community Outreach Award from Sister 4 Sisters, Inc. However, his most cherished accomplishments are the personal trophies he has received for being an outstanding teammate and friend. Ceph has served as a mentor to his peers, demonstrating remarkable wisdom and humility, and making the seemingly impossible a reality.
Ceph was a student at Dunbar Senior High School and an active member of the baseball and track and field teams. He received recognition as the DC Interscholastic Athletic Association’s High School Baseball Player of the Year and was named First Team All-League Catcher. Ceph also had the opportunity to participate in the Nationals Youth Academy, the MLB Breakthrough Series, and the Hank Aaron Invitational events, where he strived to be the best. Ceph was talented and in discussions with several Division I Baseball programs to further his education and baseball career.
Although he had a passion for sports, Ceph was also known among his family and friends as someone who enjoyed practical jokes. He would playfully use his older sister’s lotion and climb on the kitchen counter to display his trophies. He was affectionately called “Mommies Main Man Ceph” and had a great appetite for leftovers and a knack for overcoming obstacles. He took on various roles, including handyman and security guard for his younger sister, and was always eager to learn about life. When not playing sports, he enjoyed staying up late to watch TV with his father or engage in his newfound love for photography and arts. He also had a passion for country music and different types of dance. Above all, Ceph prioritized keeping God first in his life.
